NZ Colts Report 2016-2017

New Zealand Under 21 Axemen 2016-2017
The team that represented NZ U21’s in Adelaide 2016 for their 177th Royal Show was:

  • Chris Lord
  • Jack Jordan
  • Logan Tinomana
  • Aidan Grant
  • Brodie Grant
  • Nic Corbin
  • Rex Petersen
  • Tawhai Lackner

A very good team that took on a strong Australian side. The NZ boys had good team spirit and attitude, their discipline was excellent. Unfortunately, we got pipped at the post in the first two tests but won the third convincingly. The team represented NZ well and wore the uniform with pride. This result is a credit to these young axemen. It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to be part of the management side of this team, seeing some of these young men develop into top axemen who are the future of our sport.

The invitation never came from Sydney for the Easter Show but a possibility next year. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our committee; Chris Lord Snr, Ian Grant, Wayne Corbin and our hard working secretary Karen Corbin. It’s great to have you all on board helping to get this sub committee back on track, it hasn’t been an easy task.

A big thank you to all the sponsors:

  • FT Dooley- Chartered Accountants Westport
  • Martins Mitre 10 - Westport
  • Last Resort Karamea
  • Manuka Island Honey - Murchison/Karamea
  • Balance Fertilisers - Wanganui Region
  • Karen & Wayne Corbin - Riverton
  • Hayley & Ian Grant – Wanganui
  • Chris Lord Snr – Waitomo
  • Tania & Ed Tinomana – Karamea

We’re always looking for sponsorship, just a little bit here and there helps this young team.

The team to travel to Adelaide in September:

  • Logan Tinomana
  • Brad Pako
  • Nic Corbin
  • Cleveland Cherry
  • Peter McEwen
  • Samuel Bellamy
  • Micheal Trow
  • Ben Egerton

I encourage team members to go to your local businesses for sponsorship. A training weekend will be organised so we can build this young team up for the future.

Good luck, train hard and look forward to your journey.

For everyone else, support this up and coming young team.
